Andreas Gursky's Rhine II Sold for £2.7m

01/12/2011

German Photographer, Andreas Gursky's photograph Rhine II sold yesterday at auction (Christies NY) for a world record £2.7m or US$4.3m. The photograph, signature to Gursky's open scale landscape style has made him the creator of the world's most expensive photograph, out selling previous record holders Cindy Sherman and Richard Prince. In a year surrounded by talk of a failing economy, this is proof that economic hard times don't always affect luxury commerce.
