Javier Perés “One of ours”

06/01/2012

Javier Perés is best known as the founder of Berlin and Los Angeles based Galleries, Peres Projects, but this month will see the Cuban born, Gallerist, Writer and Artist place his own works on the walls of Berlin's Grimmuseum, in his first solo show, titled “One of ours”.

The show pays tribute to an icon of our shared generation, River Phoenix, the famed actor who left this world far too early, aged just 23, in 1993. There's no shortage of talent shown in the series of realist paintings, which will open to the public January 12th (running through February 5th). This is most certainly one of the must see shows of 2012.

Notably, there will be a concurrent screening of “My Own Private River”, the James Franco re-edit of Gus Van Sant’s "My Own Private Idaho" which starred River Phoenix (and Keanu Reeves) 1991 drama with a score by Michael Stipe.
