Tom Sachs "Space Program: Mars"

09/04/2012

The Park Avenue Armory presents artist Tom Sachs' amazing installation Space Program: Mars. Sachs recasts the 55,000 square foot Wade Thompson Drill Hall, creating a space odyssey experience through an installation of meticulously crafted sculptures. Creating exploratory vehicles, mission control, launch platforms, suiting stations, special effects, recreational amenities, and even the Mars landscape from materials found in his studio. Sachs enlists the help of thirteen others to man the installation over the exhibition to  reenact the ritual and process of a space mission. You can experience Sachs' four week mission from May 16th through to June 17th.
