Barbara Kruger: BELIEF+DOUBT
06/08/2012Bold graphics and towering text printed on vinyl occupy the lower-level lobby of the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum in a confronting colour scheme of red, white and black. The installation is “Belief+Doubt” by internationally renowned artist Barbara Kruger. Commissioned as a long-term piece, the site-specific work explores themes of power, money and faith, challenging viewers to do the same while resisting the temptations of ideological certainty. The installation is now open to preview - the full work will extend into the new museum bookstore and open August 20 when construction of the store is complete.
