Kon Trubkovich "Leap Second"

11/05/2012

Russian born Kon Trubkovich makes his Los Angeles debut at OHWOW Gallery. Leap Second presents a new series of paintings, works on paper, and a sound piece in his most personal works to date. "The television static, weak transmissions, and tenuous connections he depicts suggest that somewhere behind all the noise and disruption there is a broadcast confirming our existence and interconnection."The works explore our difficultly of tracing the past and connection to the concept of origin, seeing Trubkovich present a group of large-scale portraits of his mother taken from footage of the final party she threw in the U.S.S.R before the family immigrated to the U.S.

Leap Year opens May 18th and runs through to June 23rd, 2012.

// OHWOW Gallery, 937 North La Cienega Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90069
