Zebra Katz | Interview
"Zeeeeeeeeeebra Fuckingggggggggg Katzzzzzzzzzzz" croons the vocoder at the start of ‘IMA READ’, right before the pulsing bassline and deliciously menacing vocals kick in on this year’s most addictive underground rap release. It’s a track that has earned co-signs from the likes of Questlove and Pharrell Williams, rocked the dancefloors of New York and the catwalks of Paris, and taken its creator Ojay Morgan from catering manager to fashion industry darling in just a few short months. But who exactly is Zebra Katz? POST NEW met him in London to find out.

Ricky Saiz Interview
Ricky Saiz is somewhat of a D.I.Y. ideas man. Born in San Francisco, an affection for travel, music and film led him East to New York City, where he fell into the right creative-circles and has stayed for the past decade. A dead set attitude has taken the self-taught filmmaker down fresh and exciting paths, with Saiz ending up at Supreme Co. as their CO. head designer and concept driver; the mind behind larger brand ideas and collaborations. This eye for design has also seen him direct and art direct commercial spots for Nike and act as a consultant for Kanye West and the DONDA team.

SPLASHH Interview
SPLASHH have all the makings of a successful young band. Catchy pop songs, a solid work ethic, good looks and charm, and a confidence that announces they are clearly aware of all of the above. Having played and written music with frontman Sasha Carlson for years in Auckland, it was of no surprise to me to hear the calibre of the band's early demos, sent through from London following his departure from the antipodes. The potential mass pop appeal was immediately apparent.

Don Giovanni Sets by Frank Gehry
Don Giovanni Sets by Frank Gehry
27/06/2012The L.A. Philharmonic presented an incredible production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni last month, with all sets designed by architect Frank Gehry. Working with the setting of the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, of which he also designed, Gehry transformed this otherwise unaccommodating space for theater or opera into a visual wonderland. The sets took a sculptural path, with white clusters of forms playing against the layered black backdrops and raised orchestra platform, all complimenting the costume designs by Rodarte perfectly.

London Collections: Mr. Start Soundtrack
26/06/2012Mr. Start designer Philip Start wanted something with an electronic, modern sound for his debut show. He says: 'We used the same song throughout; 'The Chain', a Fleetwood Mac cover by Death Rattle. We asked the band to mix our own version that lasted the 5 minutes. We also used it for the finale as we felt it was such a strong and distinctive track. As guests arrived, we had Youth Lagoon playing - laid back, ambient, electronic music that kept things calm and hinted at what was to come."
