Acne Studios, Greene Street, NY

15/06/2012

Swedish design label Acne, (Ambition to Create Novel Expressions), have opened the doors to their new retail location at 33 Greene Street, Soho, New York City. The space bears modern studio furnishings and an intersting interior layout - divided and re-divided with an elaborate arrangement of partitions and mirrors that will undoubtedly cause disorientation for first time customers. The new store carries clothes and designs from the men’s and women’s lines, including ready-to-wear, accessories, and the label's coveted denim range.

Givenchy Resort 2013

12/06/2012

Riccardo Tisci kills it once again with his Givenchy Resort 2013 collection, an old photo of Hubert de Givenchy's muse Bettina apparently inspiring the "gypsy" collection. Don't think bohemian, think "romantic, but with a sharpness." Stand-outs are the divine cape-like dresses and shirts, the architectural outerwear and the geometric use of paisleys and print.

Finding Sportswear's Soul

Can sportswear have a soul? Now we're wowed by innovation, but everything's an improvement of an existing improvement. Like a calm corner in a market that's over-saturated though movements that immediately supersede what went before, shining fabrics, concealed seams and clinically rendered branding won't be around in a decade's time, let alone a century. Seattle's Ebbets Field Flannels were resurrecting sports apparel in 1988 — long before "throwback" entered the conversation — and through obsession and licensing limitations, lost leagues got their uniforms back.

Celine Resort 2013

12/06/2012

Phoebe Philo presents her new Resort collection for Celine, taking the opportunity to further refine some of the fashion houses staple pieces. The collection masters the use of leather and python, offers the ultimate wide leg pant and reintroduces some familiar prints in not so familiar ways. Accessories wise, two new handbag shapes were unveiled, the All Soft and the Edge, one a zipless fold over tote and the other a more structured piece.

Pippa Brooks discusses Mr Freedom with Paul Gorman

Paul Gorman first met Tommy Roberts 12 years ago when he was researching his book "The Look", his definitive investigation into the relationship between fashion and music. Roberts was an essential link, having been a pioneer from the early days of his boutique Kleptomania and the Mr Freedom shop of the title. This was just one of Roberts' retail adventures, which he first opened in the late 60s, but it broke such new ground, and the name "Mr Freedom" really epitomised the mood of the times. Roberts' attitude towards retail was all-encompassing; he said: "Fashion, business, life, love.

The U.S. Import High Summer

By Sascha Oda

U.S. Import hold a unique place in the market, especially within Copenhagen with the store also playing as a flagship store, for the lack of better words, for Soulland while complimenting the label with a selection of other well established labels. Having known Silas Adler, designer and founder of Soulland and one half of U.S. Import for sometime I been able to really understand his design philosophy over the years and see him grown into one of the leading creative's in the scene. We worked together on U.S.

The Everyday Man: Our Legacy Interview

25/05/2012

Our Legacy has made great leaps and bounds since they stepped on to the scene in 2005. Watching the Swedish brand progress over the years, they have consistently curated collections of classic pieces providing poignant depictions of fashion and function. While most brands are more concerned with what "trends" are most prominent, Our Legacy continues to focus on experimenting with fabric and fits, resulting in some of the finest, more innovated garments on the market today.
