Save David Wright House Petition

23/08/2012

One of Frank Lloyd Wright’s more unusual architectural accomplishments, the David Wright House (designed for his son), is at risk of demolition by developers. Once described as “one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s most innovative, unusual and personal works of architecture”, the house is an insight into the architect's development. Its circular spiral plan, concrete-block detailing and interior design all make this one of Wright's most remarkable works.

Eunjae Lee "Silent Machine" Tea Set

21/08/2012

Silent Machine is a tea set by design graduate Eunjae Lee, based on the components of an engine. Reflecting aesthetic interpretations of functional forms, the dark matt, cylindrical pieces resemble nuts, bolts, screw threads and washers, and were designed by Lee while studying at HDK School of Design and Crafts in Gothenburg. The designs are to be presented at the Formex 2012 design fair in Stockholm this week. Rather than the ornate nature that tea sets are known for, mechanical regularity is achieved through mathematically formulated silhouettes. Lee says of the project:

Studio Visit

Continuing with our ongoing visits to artists' studios, we recently had the chance to visit photographer Jeremy Liebman at his Bushwick workspace.

POST NEW: Where is your studio based?

Jeremy Liebman: The pictures were taken in my old studio in Bushwick, but I moved into a new place in Greenpoint last month. It's about 850 square feet with really high ceilings, arched windows and an elevator that opens into the space.
