"Ed Ruscha: On the Road" at the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami

24/05/2012

For his latest body of work which is currently showing at the Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami, Ed Ruscha draws from the classic American novel, On The Road by Jack Kerouac. Having completed a limited art book version of the novel in the past, Ruscha has also produced six large paintings and ten drawings for the exhibition, organized by the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles and curated by Douglas Fogel. Each work takes its text from the novel; the words provide Ruscha with new means to explore Kerouac's archetypal landscapes, while the artist's work analyses Kerouac's revolutionary use of language.
