Held at the President’s Gallery, NYC, and curated by Claudia Calirman, Lisa Farrington and Thalia Vrachopolous, Crimes Against Love is an exhibition of ten artworks by Cyriaco Lopes that memorialize victims of homophobic murders in Brazil. Brazil has sanctioned same-sex civil unions throughout its territory and hosts the largest Gay Pride parade in the world. At the same time, the country has one of the highest rates of violence against homosexuals. Crimes Against Love memorializes some of these victims of intolerance.

Zaha Hadid Olympic Window at Dover Street Market

30/07/2012

Dover Street Market have commissioned internationally recognised architect and designer Zaha Hadid to design the DSM Olympic window. Named “Aqua”, the concept makes reference to her work at the London Olympic Aquatics Centre, and has been created to compliment the centre’s undulating roof. The renowned designer said of the project, “Designing for Dover Street Market is an exciting opportunity to install a piece inspired by the fluid geometries of the Olympic Aquatics Centre: a wave of liquid, frozen in time, in the heart of London”.

Art Handling In Oblivion

28/07/2012

Originally conceived by Rob van Leijsen as a graduation project at the Master Design Spaces & Communication at Head Genève, Art Handling in Oblivion is a catalogue about conspiracy, theft, possession and heritage. Exploring one of most hidden and underestimated objectives of war - the seizure of art, this project presents five art collections that were stolen during wartime by regimes or organized individuals.

All Material Connects In Some Way

Oakland based artist Suzy Poling is currently interested in exploring material dissolution and the architecture of spaces, as well as the ways in which ecology and people act upon, and change each other. Forging this investigation with as many mediums as she can get her hands on, Suzy renders her curiosity for the recondite macrocosm into striking works that stir up their own questions.

Saturdays NYC Interview

Surfing, Living and Working In New York

When it comes to making a positive impact from a cultural perspective it is hard to look beyond SATURDAYS. Since opening their doors in the summer of 2009 the retailer has developed into an established name far beyond its initial outlook. With surfing, living and working the cornerstone of the full fledged label, it is not hard to see how SATURDAYS have opened a new space in Tokyo with great success. No matter what your perception is of SATURDAYS, you can only appreciate their vision and values which make them a refreshing entity.
