Louis Vuitton: "Word" & "Dream" with Yasiin Bey
31/07/2012Louis Vuitton continue to be inspired by the greatest boxer to ever grace the ring, Muhammed Ali. In a series of two short films entitled 'Word' and 'Dream', Yasiin Bey, known to many as the rapper, Mos Def, moves inside the ring, embodied by the spirit of Ali as he recites famous words first uttered by the boxer in his prime. Directed by Stuart A. McIntyre for Steam Films, the films also feature Dutch artist, Niels Shoe Meulman.

Today we visit the studio space of Brooklyn-based Ethan Greenbaum, where the artist is working on a number of pieces for his upcoming shows. Known for his sculptural work, Ethan has been exploring new mediums with prints that provide a meeting place for conventional and non-conventional materials.

30/07/2012Held at the President’s Gallery, NYC, and curated by Claudia Calirman, Lisa Farrington and Thalia Vrachopolous, Crimes Against Love is an exhibition of ten artworks by Cyriaco Lopes that memorialize victims of homophobic murders in Brazil. Brazil has sanctioned same-sex civil unions throughout its territory and hosts the largest Gay Pride parade in the world. At the same time, the country has one of the highest rates of violence against homosexuals. Crimes Against Love memorializes some of these victims of intolerance.

30/07/2012Dover Street Market have commissioned internationally recognised architect and designer Zaha Hadid to design the DSM Olympic window. Named “Aqua”, the concept makes reference to her work at the London Olympic Aquatics Centre, and has been created to compliment the centre’s undulating roof. The renowned designer said of the project, “Designing for Dover Street Market is an exciting opportunity to install a piece inspired by the fluid geometries of the Olympic Aquatics Centre: a wave of liquid, frozen in time, in the heart of London”.
