David Hanauer's project "vice chair but table versa be cause wall and floor" exhibited at the D3 competition at IMM cologne 2012, blurring the line between sculpture and furniture. Adding sheets of metal to the form creates a usable table, while the addition of leather cushions transform the piece into seating, each object can either be placed on the floor or mounted to the wall. The piece offers the viewer choices, to first transition from a viewer to a user and then to disregard function in return for pure aesthetic.
