Agathe Snow and Eli Hansen at Maccarone

31/03/2012

Maccarone presents two new exhibitions “I like it here. Don’t you?” by Agathe Snow and “Should be fine” by Eli Hansen, running through to April 28th.

Snow presents a new series of papier-mâché and fiberglass sculptures that hang from the ceiling to the floor. Exploring subjects ranging from a spit ball fight between school children, a scuffle between Mary Poppins and Santa Claus, to the leisurely acts of catching butterflies in a net, fishing, and watering flowers.

Hansen presents a collection of hand-blown glass, CFL and LED light bulbs, plastic and chopped wood sourced from around upstate New York which interact within the dimly lit gallery space. Exploring a narrative of "regionalism, subterranean laboratories, the idiosyncrasy of hand and the spectral presence of a storyteller."
