Maison Labiche Interview
Conceived in Paris in 2010, Maison Labiche is the store, atelier and brand founded by designer, Jenny, and stylist, Marie. The initial concept was simple; a creative outlet that would allow them to start using their hands and minds freely again. By producing customized wardrobe staples and jewellery that stands apart for its idiosyncratic aesthetics, Jenny and Marie have formed a unique label that has the individual at its heart.

Gosha Rubchinskiy: SS13
05/11/2012Gosha Rubchinskiy's reflection of post-Soviet Russian youth, seen through his Spring/Summer 2013 collection, is seemingly as accurate a portrayal of that demographic as you will find - namely, because the designer is, himself, part of the generation. With his clothes and accompanying film and photographic channels, Rubchinskiy presents a potrayal of youth as led by himself and close acquaintances. Take a look at his SS13 collection above.

Kate Jones Interview
Kate Jones is the jewelry designer behind URSA MAJOR, a unique line of culture-jammed treasures that she creates from her Cape Cod studio. Kate makes jewelry that will undoubtedly stand the test of time. Her pieces are both contemporary and ancient - referencing the primitive simplicity of cultures and societies-past, whilst expressing a clean brand of minimalism that is thoroughly modern.

James Long Interview
James Long Interview
31/10/2012What a joy it is tottering into James Long's Hackney studio. His team, engrossed in making his fourth womenswear collection come to life, busying themselves with shape, drape, colour and texture as I enter and waft around the rails of luxuriant clothing from previous James Long moments. It's like a fantastic walk-in wardrobe, an assemblage consisting of glittery lamé peeking out amidst intricate knit dripping with character, print cascading across swathes of silk. Sequins, leather and lace, the Long aesthetic is making me drunk on drag in the best possible way.

High Hopes Patch
High Hopes Patch
30/10/2012I have always been fascinated with patches. Once, I had a dream: I was in a convertible and the guy driving had a patch sewn on his skin. The patch was an ace of spades drawn around a dancing rabbit with a twisted head. When I asked the driver the meaning of it he said: "They used to give this patch to misfits during Vietnam War". Maybe this dream was a reminiscence of a Vietnam War veteran's jacket whose giant patch read: "Hell and Back". Or maybe just a reminiscence of a Grateful Dead dancing bear sticker.

Damir Doma SS13 Ready-To-Wear
Damir Doma SS13 Ready-To-Wear
10/10/2012Orientally infused but with a dark nod towards gothic, and even a military brusqueness seen in the olive drab patched into certain pieces, the elements that made up Damir Doma's SS13 Ready-To-Wear collection conspired to convey a sense of power dressing. The female form was presented as feminine but strong, with accented shoulders and two-piece outfits belted at the middle. Pant suits didn't mean stiff or staunch however - the whole lot looked very comfy, and the baggy pants sung of Spring freedom.

Vionnet "Homage to Isadora Duncan"
Vionnet "Homage to Isadora Duncan"
03/10/2012The timeless and influential vision of Madeleine Vionnet is celebrated in a short film that also pays tribute to modern dance pioneer Isadora Duncan, who was Vionnet’s contemporary in 1920s Paris and a rich source of inspiration for the legendary designer. Directed by Alessandro Possati, the film marks Vionnet’s 100-year anniversary and highlights the house’s enduring connection to the world of arts. Firmly established by Madame Vionnet, these cultural associations are continually reaffirmed in the modern day evolution of the brand.
